Sausage Party is one of my most anticipated films of the year. If you don’t believe me I’ll prove it here.
But no amount of digging or midnight snacks could prepare me for the first trailer. Very much tapping into the Toy Story mythology the Sausage Party story writers, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have diced up the formula, skinned it alive and thrown it into the blender.
The unimaginable horror that a regular lettuce, potato, or block of cheese suffers on a daily basis is personified with desperate wails and screams as they flounder towards extinction. This tale follows one sausage on his quest to unravel the truth behind his existence and save those that are willing to go with him.

With voice acting from Kristen Wiig, James Franco, Salma Hayek, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, Edward Norton, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, and Seth Rogen himself, as well as many others, this has to be one of the most star-studded experiments in animation we’ve ever seen.
Expected August – I’m not one for a hot dog in the cinema but it would be rude not to in this case.

Great and funny post as ever, I liked the bit at the end about having a hot dog in the cinema! And that thing you wrote on twitter “mash ’em, boil ’em” etc – that kinda reminded me of the ‘suck on my chocolate salty balls’ Chef song.

Hahaa was never a huge South Park fan but I know that reference so I’m with ya! I’m hoping to see Cloverfield this weekend, maybe next Tuesday at Bas for half price. Can’t wait for Sausage Party though, did you catch the new trailer for the Lonely Island film, Never Stop Never Stopping?

I’ve not seen it yet, I will watch it today! Sausage Party should be good, I like their humour and the actors involved etc. AHHHH I NEED TO SEE 10 Cloverfield Lane, it’s one of those rare movies I’m VERY excited for :)

Woo! I wish I’d taken print screens of my ‘original’ blog, just so I could see how much it had changed. Not that it’s great now but still better lol.
I always really liked your blog layout anyway, I thought the header was really smart. Love this one too though!

Well thank you very much :) I’m a sucker for a good layout, I do the way posts are laid out at ol’ Emma explains it all! I still see people using the layout I used originally and I’m still a bit regretful I didn’t stick with it, but the search bar was useless haha

Thanks James :) I’m never completely happy with mine but I’m not great at photoshop or anything like that sooooo….! It’s better than it used to be anyway lol. You’ll think I’m just saying this but I’ve always thought your blog looked good, professional, clear etc. And I think this new layout is good for movie reviews, it looks more like a movie blog :)

I’m useless with Photoshop as well! Just stumbled across this theme, too good to pass up. I really appreciate that Emma :) I haven’t done as much writing as I’d like recently so a few bits need updating/changed but I’m happy with it.

I noticed this on your Most Anticipated, and other articles, and sort of rolled my eyes in dismissal… then I watched the trailer. It was hilarious. I loved the sudden shift in tone, switching to horror. That baby carrot moment you quote was a highlight. I just talked about it on my nerdy new podcast, Cinema Sugar Bombs. Check it if you get some time. I also liked the cheesy romantic line from bun Wiig to hot dog Rogen, “It’s like we were made for each other.” Now I’m anticipating this too :)

I didn’t know much when I first wrote about it, other than their existential crisis, when their fate dawns on them their reactions are, I should imagine, pretty spot on. I mean, no one can ever really know what a carrot would be feeling at that moment but I should imagine screaming in horror would be a natural reaction. Which is precisely why it works, pushing the Viewer to think in a different way about everyday food stuffs. I know that for me, peeling potatoes will never be the same again! I saw this on Twitter actually, haven’t had a chance to have a listen yet but will do when I can pal

Hahah that potato scene was hilarious… being peeled alive. The concept definitely makes you think more about what food would think, which in a round about way makes me think of cows or chickens differently. Themes aside, this trailer was just so funny. Brilliantly staged too. I love how it’s all cheery then it turns into a Wes Craven flick.

Looks interesting… I’m not usually a fan of Seth Rogen but this looks like it could be funny. I really disliked Bad Neighbours though!

I’ve actually not seen Bad Neighbours but it didn’t look like my sorta film so I’m not missing much. I loved Pineapple Express though and this looks like it’s been approached in a very similar, absurdist way
